Bouldering

Bouldering: A form of climbing that is attempted without a rope. Short climbs called boulder problems are climbed above mats for protection. 

The bouldering season for the JCCA is from February to May. The season consists of three qualifying competitions followed by one championship event. Each qualifying competition will be redpoint format and the championship event will be onsite.

In order to qualify for the Championship event the climber must participate at at least two of the qualifying competitions.

Ropes and Speed

Top Rope Climbing: The climber is connected to a rope and belayed from the ground as they ascend to the top of the wall following a route. 

Speed Climbing: The climber follows a route trying to reach the top of the wall in as little time as possible. 

The Sport and Speed season for JCCA is from August to December. The season consists of three qualifying competitions followed by one championship event. Each qualifying competition will be modified red point, and the championship event will be onsite. At every event, there will be both top rope and speed climbing. 

To compete in the championship, climbers must attend at least two qualifiers.
